Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
This policy explains what information Niblr ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Niblr is a cooking app for saving recipes, planning meals, shopping, and cooking. We built it to be private by default — your recipes stay on your device unless you choose to share them.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address, and a display name if you set one. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and name from them (never your password).
- Content you create — recipes, boards, meal plans, grocery lists, and notes. This lives on your device and is only sent to our servers when you share a board or use a cloud feature.
- Optional profile — if you use the nutrition features, details like age, measurements, and goals that you enter to calculate targets. These are optional and used only for that purpose.
- Things you share — when you make a board public or invite others, its recipes and your likes/comments on shared content become visible to the people you share with.
Information collected automatically
- Basic diagnostics — technical information needed to run the service (e.g. app version, error information) and to keep your account secure.
We do not use third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
Device permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera & Photos | So you can capture or pick an image of a recipe for the AI to read. Images are processed only to create your recipe. |
| Microphone & Speech | For hands-free voice control in Cook Mode. Processed on-device/through your platform's speech service. |
| Notifications | To send the meal-prep and shopping reminders you turn on. These are scheduled on your device. |
How we use your information
- To provide the app — store your recipes, build your shopping list, sync shared boards, and keep you signed in.
- To power features you choose to use, including AI recipe import and the assistant.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
- To respond when you contact us.
AI features and service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Niblr. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — our backend for authentication, database, and storage of shared/cloud data.
- Google (Gemini AI) — when you use an AI feature (importing a recipe from a link, photo, or video, or chatting with the assistant), the content you provide for that feature is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the result. Don't submit anything you don't want processed this way.
- Sign in with Apple / Google — if you choose these sign-in options, they authenticate you and share your email and name with us.
Where your data lives & security
Most of your content is stored locally on your device. Data that must reach the cloud (your account, and anything you share) is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with our backend provider. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or by following the steps at myniblr.app/delete-account. Deletion is permanent; backups and logs are purged within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or email us at app.niblr@gmail.com and we'll help. We don't sell personal data.
Children
Niblr is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
